Changes to scenes…

After reviewing the animatics, we need to make the following changes to improve our story…

Scene 2

- Boy climbs on Sea’s head rather than run all the way from the tail to head.

Scene 3

- Replace dialogue “You smell familiar” with “Your scent is familiar”

Scene 6

Just before the dragons return, King uses all the powers he’s got to fight Shadow Dragon. King succeeded by throwing the Shadow Dragon out of the palace. Then Sea and the other dragons enter the palace…

- King says “We don’t have much time” before “Father! Father, are you alright?”

- Replace dialogue “Use all the powers within you to fight” with “Do what must be done”

Soon after, Shadow Dragon returns from the roof top in a great speed, crashing into the center of the palace. And the battle begins…

Scene 7

When the boy transforms into the Light Dragon…

- “What’s happening to me?” (Disregard establishing son dialogue)

Camera shot of other dragons’ expressions

- Shadow Dragon goes spastic/crazy because he killed his beloved by mistake, and then Fire Dragon says “Right now we need to take down the Shadow Dragon. Save the talk for later!”

- Replace dialogue “Believe in yourself” with “Don’t be afraid, everything will be fine”.

And, last but not least… we have decided to cut out scene 8! (Hooray?!) -Actually, since Yin have made the animatic for this scene… if Adam allows us to just animate 4 scenes, then we can include scene 8 as an “alternative ending” (presented as animatic of course) ? -Part of the whole ‘unlocking’ thing.

Animation Process

As I was watching the PIXAR DVDs, I made some notes on the process of making an animation….

Script –writing out the story
Storyboard –presenting it to people to get some reactions and feedback. During presentation, must act out and imitate what’s happening in the scene. –Just so it’s exciting and easier for people to catch the story.
Produce a story reel (animatic)

— We are up to this stage (supposing) —

Record voices
Layout (minimal movement, no texture) –camera shots & angles
Animation –listen to dialogue of the actors/acting again and again and again
Animators act out themselves, video record how movement works/facial expressions etc.
Work on characters’ face (last thing)
Simulation (e.g. Sully’s fur movement in Monsters Inc.)
Shaders
Lighting

SOUND:

Foley – performers watch the screen/animation, and then make sound effects using objects or body movement to match the scene.

Voices – begin before animation!

Very shabbily coloured, but coloured nonetheless. Ugh, I feel like I should have put more effort into colouring this. White is so hard to colour! Ah, excuses excuses.

At least the hair looks alright…..

Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh this project had better be worth all the sleepless nights or I will have to choke someone by the time the year is over. After graduation, I will never ever want to look at scales ever again!

I did two versions……one with a little bit of zoom blur for ~*impact*~. I can’t decide which is better!! So you guys pick, mmk?

Sorry, I messed up the scales a little. Now all I can see is scales….. scales everywhere in my eyes. My eyes, they scale! But anyways, don’t stare too intently at the scales because you’ll be able to see a lot of very apparent mistakes in the scaling. Free Transform is no longer my best friend! sdasdhakdhslakjhsda!@*#&@*&!11!!!!

Let me know if you want any last minute changes, but if anyone tells me to repaint the entire thing, I will definitely choke somebody.

In THE LOST PROPHECY, Unlimited Production explores a grand journey of the legendary Chinese dragons. The devoted Sea Dragon is on a vital mission that decides the fate of the earth and the order of the dragons. He must travel the world and locate the rest of the dragon siblings, in order to save the dragon palace from the mysterious Shadow Dragon. Fate will guide him to earthling boy, Fung, who will (unearth) the lost prophecy. With the help of Fung and other dragons, the Sea Dragon units the dragons and returns to the Dragon Palace for one last battle that will change the history of the dragons forever.

No doubt there will be heaps of grammar error in there but thats pretty much what i could think of for now. Add some Stuff in if something cross your mind.

‘Branding’ Colour scheme

I tried a couple….

I’m trying to keep it simple…limit it to a few colours….because there’s the whole branding thing to consider. I’m liking red + black + white, but i dunno, what do you guys think? For the branding logo/typography, I’m thinking of red against black… something like that? it could be the red chinese seal we liked, or some sort of caligraphy… what do you guys think? I’ll see if I can whip up some prototypes.

But yeah, for now, branding colour scheme? What do you guys like? Do you want purple? Blue? Or are you guys happy with the red/black/gold idea? Feedback mmk bbz.
